Shlomo Geva obtained his BSc degree in Chemistry and Physics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1981. He completed a Master by Research in Information Retrieval at QUT in 1987 and a PhD in Computational Intelligence at QUT in 1992. Shlomo focused his research in the areas of Information Retrieval and related application of Computational Intelligence. Shlomo was the Director of Research Studies in the Faculty of Information Technology at QUT from 2005 to 2009, the Head of Discipline of Computer Science in the Faculty of Science and Technology at QUT from 2010 to 2011, and since 2012 he has been the Head of Discipline of Computational Intelligence and Signal Processing in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at QUT. Since 2008, Shlomo has also been the Co-Chair of INEX, the international forum for the evaluation of XML and Focused Information Retrieval. Shlomo is the designated General Co-Chair of ACM SIGIR 2014 â€“ the primary conference on the international Information Retrieval research calendar, to be held on the Gold Coast in July 2014. Shlomo has published over 150 peer reviewed articles and conference papers in Information Retrieval and Computational Intelligence, and had authored Open Source software tools, namely k-tree and topsig, for clustering and for searching Big Data collections.
