Updated API now supports GET requests and author IDs, CrossRef preprint tagging, embeddable PatCite URLs and more!

Updated API now supports GET requests and author identifiers, CrossRef preprint tagging, embeddable PatCite URLs and more!


New API GET request support in Swagger UI.

New PatCite embed URL.

New author count filters.

  • Added support for GET requests to the Scholarly API for quick responses bypassing the need to create a JSON request, and added author identifiers to the supported API fields.
  • Added embeddable URL format for PatCite results and analyses to allow PatCite results to be embedded in a web page.
  • New Author Count min/max filters and improved the author facet search auto-suggested results.

Additional minor changes based on user feedback:

  • Improved the World Map chart functionality so tooltips don’t move with the mouse within a selected country.
  • Disabled data labels on scatter plots by default, however, these can still be turned on in the chart settings.


  • Special characters in BibTeX exports are now escaped to improve LaTex support.
  • Fixed the expanded article view in Recommended Works tab of individual scholarly works.
  • Resolved saving existing analysis dashboards bug.
  • Fixed return to previous page after login ensuring query and filter parameters are retained.
  • Fixed redirect bug on export failure.
  • Stopped excessive data loading on homepage.
  • Fixed support for PatSeq embed URLs.
  • Added PMC logos to cited works tab on individual patent pages.
  • Fixed Download citation csv format to match the csv export format and re-ordered the csv fields.

API & Data Improvements:

  • Lens Scholarly API version 1.3:
    • Added support for GET requests to the API and updated the documentation and Swagger UI.
    • Added Microsoft Academic and ORCID author identifiers (i.e. author.magid and author.orcid) to the API request fields and author identifiers (author.ids) to the API response for searching and returning author identifiers.
  • Works tagged as Preprints in Crossref are now assigned to publication type “preprint”.
  • Updated the Scholarly Works Elasticsearch index from version 7.2.0 to 7.6.0.
  • Enabled search on volume and issue fields in the Scholarly Works index.
